  • Partnership for Knowledge

Partnership for Knowledge (PfK) is a higher education initiative of the Italian Cooperation aimed at providing life-changing opportunities to researchers, public administration officers, social entrepreneurs and young leaders who are committed to developing their professional and academic skills, strengthen their capacities, widen their networks, make a difference in their home contexts and, last but not least, experience Italian culture. The programme, being funded from 2019-2022 by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in partnership with several Italian Universities, offers a number of Master of Science scholarships and PhD fellowships in the following thematic domains, grouped in four academic platforms.

  • Rural development and Spatial management
  • Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene - W.A.S.H.
  • Sustainable energy, Environment and Industrial innovation
  • Cultural heritage and Sustainable tourism

Last year 93 scholarships were granted. Currently, one student from Myanmar has been attending a three year PHD course in Economics at the University of Siena since November 2019.

 

  • GIAHS (Global Important Agriculture Heritage Systems):

This project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation (AICS), aims to promote the knowledge of agricultural heritage systems and traditional landscapes, supporting the FAO GIAHS program through training and research activities, especially in the AICS Priority Countries. The GIAHS program is aimed at the worldwide identification of agro-silvo-pastoral systems that reflect the ingenuity of human adaptation to the environment, expressing the richness of bio-cultural diversity and a relationship between man and nature that is able to sustain livelihoods for local communities.

The one-year Master Course is structured into a 6-month study tour in Italy and 6-months of field research abroad. In the first (Academic Year 2019-2020) and in the second edition (Academic Year 2018-2019) of the Master a total of six Myanmar students attended the course.

  • NEST (Network of Education in Sustainable Tourism):

NEST is a capacity building project led by the Centre for Advanced Studies on Tourism (CAST) of the University of Bologna in partnership with the University Centre of Bertinoro (Ce.UB) and co-funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
In accordance with the internationally recognized Sustainable Development Goals, the project aims to improve the skills of operators from Italian Cooperation partner countries in the field of sustainable tourism to create an operational, open and dynamic network that will grow and strengthen in years to come.
