A video-conferencing equipment has been recently delivered and installed in the premises of the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry in Nay Pyi Taw. The system was procured in the framework of the technical assistance to the Treasury Department, provided under the 3.4 million USD Italian Debt for Development Swap Program.
The overall Debt for Development Swap Program came to a conclusion on March 2020 and allowed to channel 3,1 million USD of Myanmar outstanding debt to Italy for development projects that have improved the lives of the most vulnerable people living in rural areas in Chin State. Procurement activities have been carried out by UNOPS through an additional grant fund provided by the Italian Cooperation. The new, full-fledged web-video-conferencing system will allow the Treasury Department to perform all its duties and hold online
meetings while maintaining social distancing throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We would like to express our truthful gratitude for the Italian generous support and for providing these important and much needed video conferencing facilities to the Treasury Department under the overall Debt for Development Swap Agreement” says the Letter of Appreciation from MoPFI sent to the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation renewing and strengthening the partnership between Italy and the Myanmar.
